Grateful Dads is a Grateful Dead–inspired dad space, not a clinical one; a place for fathers to get practical tools for more calm, confident presence at home, especially with ADHD in the mix. It’s built on the 5‑step PAUSE People System, adapted specifically for Grateful Dads, a one‑of‑a‑kind approach to ADHD support that’s also fully aligned with CDC guidelines. Here, dads learn to see the energy and ripples they bring into the room and swap autopilot reactions for more grounded, intentional responses, so family life gets easier, more connected, and a lot stuck in the same tricky, predictable situations.

Joining Grateful Dads includes:  â€‹
  • Expert insights from a veteran special education consultant & parent coach

  • PDF workbook & materials

  • Tips for Navigating the IEP: Foundations in Special Education Law

  • 30-minute private coaching session

  • A cool space for men to laugh, learn, and Listen to the Music Play, together.

Grateful Dads is a PAUSE People Production
What Grateful Dads are saying:
  • "It’s helping me think critically about my parenting style and break some patterns/habits that aren’t necessarily the most productive for raising the kids."
  • "I liked the intentionality of trying to be better and hearing other dad’s stories and experiences. Learning from each other."
  • "Green/Yellow/Red - Talking to my boys about how I’m feeling (yellow moving towards red). It resonates with my oldest."
  • "I'm setting us up for success by making sure I set up my boys for success (in the mornings, etc…)"
  • "Ripple really resonates.  The idea of being present and the energy that I bring to the family (good and BAD!)"

  • A small, steady community for learning together, practicing new skills and mindsets, and drawing support from music, humor, and shared experience

Self-Care Focus:

  • Spot personal stress patterns and master simple PAUSE tools to reset before reacting

  • Normalize the emotional load of fatherhood with practical tools to pivot from autopilot towards better outcomes & Ripples

Family Impact:

  • Build ADHD-informed skills for smoother daily life: clearer routines, collaborative problem-solving, and co-regulation with kids and partners

  • Prioritize connection over correction to repair conflicts faster and strengthen trust

  • Model self-regulation and self-compassion, showing kids how to mess up, reset, repair, and try again

Why Grateful Dads?

Inspired by the Grateful Dead’s 1980 Mill Valley acoustic set that spread joy for kids and families facing muscular dystrophy, Grateful Dads brings together local Marin fathers of neurodiverse kids (ages 6–13) in a dad-centered space, right where it all happened.

Understanding neurodivergence reshapes how your whole family functions.  And this one’s for dads: a place to gather, build community, gain insight, and get practical, expert coaching for families with ADHD.  Together. Dads. Another Marin County first.
